It is a moderate temperature August morning in the last half of the month. Usually vegetation is dried up and grass turning brown in the heat, so we are fortunate to have good weather. The almanac says it is a good time to plant fall vegetables after harvesting those from earlier planting.
Tara Miller’s son, Gabe Hathcock, fell and broke his wrist last week.
Friendly Neighbors Club postponed their August meeting to September 5th, the first Thursday of the month. The ribbon awards for the quilt show are ready as members have been busy making them.
Happy Birthday to my granddaughter, Mindy Jean Wright, August 14th in Springfield.
Karen K. Davis and I were in Mountain Home Wednesday for our doctor appointments.

What a nice surprise Saturday afternoon when cousin, Ivonna (Hillhouse) Bowers came by on her way home to Koshkonong, MO. bringing me fried pies left from her 56th GHS class reunion and potluck dinner held at the Historium in town. How lucky could I get? She said they had music and singing with her classmates, Kendall and Wendell Jones, Ronnie Haskins and wife, Judy, Ralph Young and others. They were the Class of 1956-1957.
Maggie Carr and I had a long visit by phone Saturday evening. We both agreed that this Golden Age is about to get the best of us.
Bob Arnett and sister, Reta Tole, picked Paralee Rea up to go to the Clark Ridge Singing at the Baptist Church there, Saturday evening.
There were 58 present at the Saturday annual Farm Bureau meeting. They had election of officers for the coming year. District 8 Representative Charles Bassett and wife, Barbara, were present. Music was furnished by David Hirsh, Ben Long and Paralee Rea.

My cousin, Wade Crawford, from Ramona, CA. called Sunday to tell me he had heard from Nadiene (Pleasant) House in Willow Springs, of her husband, Mose (Raymond) House’s death. Nadiene and family has our sympathy.
Another Happy Birthday wish to Marlyn Pitcock in Forsyth on August 21st. Granddaughter, Rashell (Braden) Phillips had an August 9th birthday in Forsyth.
A Gideon speaker was guest at Lilly Ridge Church Sunday and he gave an interesting message of the work of the Gideons distributing Bibles throughout the world.
