Jimmie Lee Posey, 76

Jimmie Lee Posey, of Ava, Mo., after a long and brave battle with cancer, went to meet his Saviour on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at the age of 76.
Jimmie was born to the late Audie and Ethel (Proctor) Posey, July 2, 1937, in Goodhope, Mo. He married Janice (Adams) Posey on Sept. 12, 1958, and they made their home in Ava, Mo., for 54 years and 11 months.
Jimmie was a carpenter most of his life but retired from the City of Ava in January 2004. He attended Cross Point Church in Ava, Mo.
Jimmie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included coon hunting, going on long motorcycle rides with his wife, piddling in the shop, watching any judge on TV, and sitting in the porch swing watching the cars go by, with a Diet Mt. Dew in hand. He could also be found playing wiffle ball with his grandchildren in the field.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Posey.
He is survived by his wife, Janice two children, Phyllis and Johnny Burkdoll, of Squires, Mo., and Dennis and Buffy Posey, of Ava, Mo.; six grandchildren, Jessica and Oran Boyd, Becky and Matt Heinlein, Kati Burkdoll, Amanda Burkdoll, Trampas Posey, and Haylee Burkdoll, all of Ava, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Miquia, Zach, Mason, Shaylee, Stetson, Mac and Colt; and two sisters, Linda and Tony Stillings, of Ava, Mo., and Dorothy and Raymond Fouard, of Salina, Kan.
Memorial services were conducted Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 in the Cross Point Church, Ava, Mo., with burial following in the Goodhope Cemetery.  Cremation arrangements were under the care and direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
