Ava High School Will Christen New Track At First Home Football Game Sept. 6

Businesses can form a coed relay team and compete for free labor

You can be one of the first to run the new track at the Ava athletic complex before the first home varsity football game on Friday, Sept. 6.
The “Silvey Stampede” is being sponsored by the Ava High School cross country team.
The Ava Bear Booster Club will also host a tailgate party beginning at 5 p.m. that evening.
Come see the beautiful new facilities,  be the first to race on our new rubberized track then enjoy a burger or hot dog and stay and cheer on the Ava Bears as they battle the Rogersville Wildcats in their first home football game of the 2013 season.
The race competition begins at 4 o’clock and will have categories for all ages including a relay race for businesses.
Divisions include:
0 yrs-2nd graders racing a 400 (1 lap)
3rd and 4th grade – 800 (2 laps)
Junior High -1600 (4 laps)
High School – 1600 (4 laps)
19 years and older – 1600 (4 laps)
There will also be a Business Challenge 4×100 coed relay. (1 lap total, each runner will do a 100 meter leg of the relay with 4 runners total passing the baton) at 5:45.  A team must have at least one female on their team to make it coed.
All participants in each division will receive a commemorative t-shirt.
Return entry forms to any elementary, middle school or high school principals office by Tuesday 3 p.m. to receive shirt on day of race.  Late entrants may pick up their shirt the following week in the high school office.
Medals to the top 10% in each division and in both genders.

The Ava Bears Den will bus over from the school to the track any young runners that would like to compete.
The winning relay team in the business division will win two hours of free labor from the cross country team at their business.  That’s more than 20 kids washing windows or buildings, picking up trash, mowing or any other menial task you would like for your business!
