Thornfield Southern Baptist Church

We had 23 present at church today.  Happy Birthday to Dylan Funk.

Please pray for Marvin Graham, Gary Harley, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gregory, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Cantwell, Donna Lawson, Sue Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Caudill and family, Calvin Murrill and Kim Watson.

The Gideons will be be speaking at our church on July 21st, please join us.

Brother Leon Turner opened the services by reading Genesis 6:5-6.

The Sunday School lesson was about God disciplining His people.  Please read 2 Kings 17:7-15, 18-20.  How do we react when God disciplines us?  Do we learn from our mistakes?  True repentance is turning away from sin.  God gave us a full book of life lessons when He gave us the Bible.

Have you ever wandered why some people don’t seem to ever get disciplined?  If you are not a born again Christian, you are not God’s child to discipline.  God gives us the wonderful choice of free will.  Are you going to love Him or the world?  It’s your choice.

Todays sermon was about the purpose of suffering.  Please read Psalm 23, Psalm 41:3, Romans 5:1-5, 2 Corinthians 12:5-10 and James 5:14-16.  When we are  suffering it is so easy to get discouraged.  Let Christ strengthen us moment by moment.  Suffering reminds us of what Christ did for us.  Remember Christ suffered terribly for us.  Suffering also keeps us from being prideful.

Are you ready to make Heaven your eternal home?  If you believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God and died on the cross for you and rose again.  Just say this prayer and He will come into your heart and live forever!  Dear Lord,  I am a sinner, please forgive me of my sins, please come into my heart and save me today.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen!  Glory to God, the angels in Heaven are singing!  You are a new creature in Christ!

If you don’t have a church home, please join us for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Worship.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but  by me.  John 14:6.
