Bethany Baptist Church had a booth at the Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Friday evening. They had a game of tic-tac-toe and gave candy and gum to the winners. They also handed out flyers advertising the movie, “Last Ounce of Courage,” being shown Wednesday evening at the church. The celebration at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center was a nice event with the temperatures dropping during the evening. It takes a lot of effort from a lot of different people to put on that kind of event.
Veterans were honored in the Sunday morning service. Dan Stillings sang a special song in the morning service. The church presented patriotic/God honoring music, testimonies, and readings in the evening service. The Jubilee Singers, Dan and Norma Stillings, the Youth group, and Darlene and Sally Sorensen all sang specials on the Independence Day theme.
Pastor and Darlene Sorensen will host the Annual 4th of July Cookout Thursday 11:00 to 3:00 at their home with hamburgers and hotdogs and all the fixings. Guests each bring a side dish that goes along with that.
There will be lunch with guest missionaries in the fellowship hall again next Sunday, July 7 at noon. There will be a 1:00 afternoon service, and no evening service.
Pastor Bob Sorensen brought a message from Jude 17-25 that says that mockers would come in the last time. We can say that America has been invaded by those who deny the Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ, denying that the Bible is the word of God. These mockers came in through the institutions of higher learning, invading the churches and the seminaries with humanistic, evolutionary philosophies and making man, not God the authority for moral life. These mockers became more bold and moved to take Bible reading and prayer out of public schools and have attempted to take the very mention of the Lord God, the name of his Son Jesus, Christian ethics, and references to scripture out of all public places.
We see the results of that rejection of God daily in the news, but don’t give up. Build up your faith in Bible reading, maintaining fellowship with believers, praying to the God in heaven who hears, surrendering yourself to God, making sure of your salvation, being involved in soul winning, living righteously, but having the right spirit of compassion toward the mockers. You hate the sin, but you have compassion for the sinner, remembering that we ourselves are sinners saved by the grace of God.
