It was incredible and beautiful Monday that we’ve all been waiting for. It was a warm, sunny day. We spent the day in Springfield most of the day and will be again early tomorrow for an appointment. It is suppose to be rainy and cold again towards the end of the week.
I haven’t written an item for awhile. I’ve had shots in both knees and still having pain so I hope I won’t end up having to have surgery like so many people do.
I want to say Happy Birthday this month to granddaughter, Albany, who is now 11 years old. My sister, Lorene Byrd, in Mountain Grove and also our pastors both had birthdays, Pastor Benny and Loretta Dewitt, Sis. Lena Hutchison and Bro. Michael Young and Sis. Sheryl Shipley.
I can hardly believe school is almost over this year, sometime in May the kids will be out again and the pool will be open again and baseball going strong. Bro. Michael and Sis. Kendra Young will have two years of college finished and my granddaughters will be in 2nd and 6th grade.
We had good services Sunday. Sis. McHaffie taught our class the lesson was on “The Nature of the Church.” Ephesians 5:29-30 “No man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church; for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.”
Our pastor Bro. Dewitt had eye surgery for a torn retinia and wasn’t able to minister Sunday morning, our song leaders and also a minister Bro. Victor Murdy brought the morning message, scripture was on faith using II Peter 1:10 and Titus 2:12 as his scripture. Sunday night Bro. Dewitt was with us and Sis. Dewitt brought the evening message from Genesis 6:1 and 7:1 and Jeremiah 17:9-10. This was telling us about the wickedness that’s in man’s heart, but God has made a way of escape as he did with Noah and the ark.
We were sorry to hear about Bro. Tom Johnson passing away. I’m sure everyone that has lived here very long knew and loved him and his wife. He preached our family and Jerry’s family funerals from way back years ago. Also a good friend of mine, Sis. Esther Davis’ son, Larry, died and we didn’t know about it until after he was buried. Sis. Davis came faithfully here to church several years ago.
Our Sunday night service for the summer start at 5 p.m. and Bible study on Tuesday evening with Bro. Victor Murdy starts at 6 until 8 p.m. and we are still quilting now on Wednesday.
We have been enjoying the jam music sessions at the senior center Monday nights at 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Lots of snacks and drinks are brought and so far a large crowd of listeners and musicians come out.
If someone has an idea what kind of little birds I had last Friday on my lawn, call me. They were tinly little yellow and black birds all on my front lawn. I thought at first they were dandelions, but cars came by and they flew away and then returned again and were scared away and I haven’t seen them since. They were the prettiest little things and set so still on the grass.
I think most of us missed the fourth Sunday singing. We were asked to take someone’s place at Sunday afternoon service that couldn’t make it. I wasn’t able to go either, but maybe next time. God bless.
