May 15 – Wednesday evening service began by Bro. Jim Lafferty taking prayer requests and praise reports. We praise the Lord for answered prayers. Sis. Melba Austin led in prayer. Bro. Jim read Luke 5:1-11, John 21:1-11. It was hard work to fish and catch fish. It is also hard work to fish for men. Christ died for all that will believe and receive. We should work to show and teach others. Wonderful words of life were read and commented on by those present. The word of the Lord says to come together to study and learn, Hebrews 10:25. People just don’t have the desire to come together to worship.
Sunday school opened in singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. He took prayer requests and praise reports. Bro. Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Jack read Luke 16:10-13 for our devotion. We dismissed to study God’s wonderful word. Happy Anniversary was sung to Denzil and Lila Roberts on 58 years of marriage. God bless them.
Praise and Worship began with good testimonies by Melba Austin, Janice Lafferty, Vanessa Mills and Ethel Metcalf. We then proceeded to congregational singing. Sis. Melba sang as well as Sis. Ethel who blessed us with singing a couple of songs. Pastor Bill Austin brought the message from Zech. 4:9-10. Small things can do great things. God can take our small witness and use it in a great way. We must be like little children to enter heaven, a great thing. The little babe that was born in a manger died on the cross for all! What a great thing. It was a good message.
During the Sunday evening service The Goodhope Pickers blessed us. They have changed their group name to Cross Timbers. They are a very talented group of men using their talent for the Lord. There was good testimonies and other singers that contributed to our good service. We dismissed for food and good Christian fellowship.
Thank a veteran this week.
