Happy Mother’s Day to all moms out there! You know mother’s day is every day, but we set aside one day of the year to pay special attention to her and to say “Thanks mom, for all you do”. Godly woman who fear the Lord will be given strength to face tough battles, wisdom to help others and to be shown patience when needed. She’ll be given guidance that enables her to teach Christian living to her family and loved ones. As in Isaiah 58:9-12, God will equip you if you will only ask. Follow His teachings and light the way for others to find Jesus.
There will be a ladies banquet at 6 pm on Sunday May 19th to celebrate the special ladies in our lives. Sunday night services will be dismissed then and we will gather in the fellowship hall in the youth ministry building.
We hope you had the opportunity to attend the baccalaureate services at 6 pm at the performing arts building this past Sunday for our graduates. We want to say a special congratulation to our high school graduates from our church family. We had a special appreciation day Sunday for Danielle Dye, Trey Everett and Sarah Posey. Lisa McAllister did a great job with the DVD presentation she made in remembrance of these three special kids. They have grown up fast. Graduation will be on Friday May 17at the high school gym. We’re proud of you all.
On Sunday May 26th the evening services will be dismissed for Memorial Day and Monday May 27 Monday morning men will be dismissed and the church office will be closed. It seems like spring has not yet fully arrived, but here we are in mid-May already.
God has been good to us and we need to spread some of that goodness around. Please pray for those who have asked us to do so. Remember the weary of heart and those who are homebound. We have a lot of needs in our community and church family. Our country is also in need of our prayers. Let’s keep our new graduates in prayer for their continuing journey wherever that takes them. Pray for our service men and women who face battles for us every day, on and off the battle field, as well as the leaders of our nation who so desperately need Godly wisdom. We pray for those confused and lost people to feel that conviction of faith and to give in to the freedom that only Jesus Christ can give. The hope of eternal life is ours for having that personal relationship with Jesus. He wipes the old past away and we are a new person in Christ. The world has shown us lately that we have a lot of healing to do and we need to turn back to God for answers.
If you do not have a regular church home or if you want to visit us here at Ava General Baptist Church, we would be so happy to see you. Our Sunday services are 8:30 am, 10:45 am and 6 pm. Sunday school is a great way to study God’s word and it will help you apply God’s wisdom to our life. We also have been studying Revelation on Wednesday nights at 7pm, so drop by and see us. We have the nursery open on Wednesday night as well as Sunday now.
Now that school is almost over, soon we will have our youth Camps going, the youth ministry will have lots of activities going on this summer and Vacation Bible School will be here before you know it. We’ll be sure and let you know about all of that later. You can “like” us on our face book page to keep informed about activities in the church.
Have a wonderful week and remember to be a blessing to someone if you can. We hope to see you Sunday. God Bless.
