In last weeks edition of “The Times” clubs were mentioned. One of the oldest was Lilly Ridge Friendly Neighbors Club, organized in 1934. An Iowa lady, Dot Downard, was the leader in organizing and made it very popular neighborhood meeting in the homes of members. In fact we would have a co-hostess, since there were more members than the months of the year. Becoming state extension members brought programs of interest and participation; our club representing Ozark County through the extension office. There were four generations in at least two families and were honored at Columbia, at various events, and accomplishments.
Club day was always looked forward to. Much could be written about those days.
Happy Easter day as families gather together on this weekend.
