L.P. “Junior” Robertson, 68

Lemuel Paul Robertson, Jr., son of Lemuel Paul “Shorty”and Dottie Opal (Henley) Robertson was born July 29, 1944, in Almartha, Mo. He departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 28, 2013 in his home in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 28 days.
On May 9, 1969, he united in marriage to the great love of his life, Laura Elizabeth “Beth” Hensley and to this union two children were born.
Junior, as he was known to his family and friends, and Beth spent 44 years of love and total devotion to each other and were a model of what a happy marriage can be. Their home was a warm place with an open door to all and welcomed countless family and friends over the years.
He committed his life to his Lord Jesus Christ and served by example. Junior understood the importance of a firm foundation and he raised his children up in the Lord. He was a member of the Galloway Baptist Church. Junior was a bricklayer and became a member of the Local #10 Bricklayer’s Union in 1969. He served his country in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, including time overseas in Vietnam.
A quiet man with a generous heart and gentle spirit, Junior left an imprint on the lives of many. His family describes him as being the most honest man they ever knew. He was devoted to his family and his life centered on them. The legacy that he leaves will be one that will affect his family forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Junior is survived by his devoted wife, Beth, of the home; one daughter, Rebecca Wilson and husband, Douglas, of Springfield, Mo.; one son, Lemuel Paul Robertson III and wife, Allison, of Ozark, Mo.; six brothers, Leonard G. Robertson and wife, Sharon, of Selmore, Mo., Raymond Robertson and wife, Marilyn, of Cairo, Neb., Claude Robertson and wife, Sherry, Gary Robertson and wife, Regina, Henry Robertson and wife, Dalene, and Glen Dale Robertson and wife, Teresa, all of Ava, Mo.; three sisters, Peggy Trent, of Springfield, Mo., Candy Lane and husband, Kenneth, of Fordland, Mo., and Dede Arington and husband, Bill, of Ozark, Mo.; as well as several nieces and nephews, and a host of other dear family and friends.
A loving husband, father, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend, Lemuel Paul Robertson Jr. built a life on loving others more than himself. A humble servant of our Lord and Savior he fought the good fight, and finished his course. Junior Robertson kept the faith. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the loving memories he created for us all.
Services for Junior Robertson were Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Holman Howe Chapel, Seymour, Mo. Burial followed in the Fannon Cemetery near Ava, Mo., under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Visitation was from 1 p.m. till time of service Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Oxford Hospice or the Disabled American Veterans in care of the funeral home.
