A special appreciation to Ed Fillmer, former reporter for KY3 for his sharing an old story that he did of Kindall Store and Corda Kindall with our family. Grandson, Nicholas posted it on facebook after Ed sent him the link to it on YouTube. I know that it touched many to once again hear the sound of Cordie’s voice and to see the store so many years, when it still had the coffee grinder, meat slicer and so many things that made it our neighborhood general store. Glad that Kindall Store is still open in Olga and is the heart of the community. Hard to believe that it has been so many years since Cordie was still alive and running the store.
Since posting the information in last weeks column about the state dinner during the Missouri Cherry Blossom Festival in Marshfield, the event has completely sold out. I guess many wished to hear Paul Burrell (butler to Princess Diana).
I was excited to read that Maggie Peterson Mancuso (Charlene Darling of the Andy Griffith show) will be back in the Ozarks this spring. Many in this neck of the woods, like to leave their afternoon chores and routines to be home in time to watch the Andy Griffith show, which comes on after the noon news. She will be planting a Cherry Blossom Tree at the Marshfield Post Office on Thursday, April 25 at noon. This is open to the public and I know she would love to see you there. She is one of the nicest people and there are several of us who are planning on riding over to see her again. Mark your calendars to see and meet such a special television legend.
There are additional signs of spring appearing here. Daffodils and other springtime flowers are starting to rear their heads from their winter slumbers. It sure makes a country girl excited to see this take place and makes you anxious to want to get out and plant flowers and dig in the dirt.
Life continues as normal in our rural area of the Ozarks and hope this correspondence finds you doing well. Come on out this way and take some time from your busy schedule to just relax on the porch of the old general store and visit with the good folks of Olga. God Bless you all this week.
