3-24-13. Sunday school began with the reading of Psalms 112. Opening prayer was given by Brother Danny Lee. Our Sunday school lesson was the last chapter of 1st Corinthians, chapter 16. Paul is giving the final greetings to the church of Corinth. He is assuring the church to accept those who helped him in expenses, as well as, the ministry of Jesus Christ. These men were Stephanus, Fortunatus and Achaicus. The city of Corinth was a wealthy and sinful city with different religious cults according to Brother Lee Hampton’s Bible Concordance. My thoughts (and this is just my opinion) is that Paul appears to be instructing the church at Corinth to receive these men as true ministers of Jesus Christ. If there were several religious cults just as there are today, the gospel could be confusing to the new Christians. This is true today so don’t just take a mortal man’s word on the Bible, but study it yourself after praying that God will give you His understanding.
Our service changed to answering last weeks questions. This is such a fun learning experience that I thoroughly enjoy. We always have a lot of laughter during this time, but we learn a lot too. If you don’t have a church home, we welcome you to come and learn and worship with us.
God help us as your children and servants to stay on your path. For those who have strayed away from your path, please bring them back for it is true just as verses 20, 20 and 22 state: “Those that have know your righteousness and turned back to their previous ways of sin are in a worse shape than before they came to know about God’s righteousness. Please open their eyes and hearts to return to you and your mercy. For those that have never known you, I also pray they will be quickened and converted by your Holy Son, Jesus Christ. In Jesus name, Amen.
God be with you all and have a blessed week. Remember to pray for the lost, the grieved at heart and the sick. Let’s pray for one another and our leaders that God will have His will and way in the leading of our nation.
Don’t forget the Fifth Sunday Singing is at Breedon this month on March 3, 2013 starting at 6 p.m. Bring food and songs and the desire to worship our Heavenly Father. We have good fellowship at these singings and please know you are all welcomed at any time or any place we gather to worship.
