The Ava girls defeated Reeds Spring, 52-49, last Friday night to claim third place in the Reeds Spring Tournament.
After winning the first round game over Hollister, the Ava girls lost to West Plains in the semifinals before beating the Lady Wolves on Friday.
Tuesday night the Lady Bears were scheduled to play at Forsyth, but the bus was turned around en route because Taney County was placed under a tornado warning. Rex Sawyer, Ava athletic director, said Wednesday the games have been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 8. Two quarters of junior varsity play will begin at 6 o’clock, followed by the varsity game.
In semifinals play last Thursday, the Lady Bears lost to the Lady Zizzers of West Plains, 70-32.
Coach Clint Gazette said everyone played for Ava, which was led in scoring by Bailey Lee with 14 points. Lee had four baskets from 3-point range.
Maison Bovard had 10 points for Ava. Others scoring were Jacey Swofford 4, Hannah Johnson 3, and Erica Croney 1.
Andi Haney had 26 points for West Plains.
Eight different players scored for Ava on Friday night in the win over Reeds Springs, with Bovard leading the way with 18 points.
Johnson added 13 points and Lee had 10 for the Lady Bears. Others scoring were Callie Eubanks 4, Swofford 2, MaKenna Hunsaker 2, Shelby Campbell 2 and Croney 1.

Lee added 9, Johnson 8, Eubanks 6, Swofford 4 and Croney 1.
The game was tied at 22-all at halftime, but the Lady Bears outscored the Lady Eagles in each of the final two quarters to take the win.
The Lady Bears will be at Mtn. Grove tonight (Thursday) in conference action and will host Norwood for Senior Night on Monday.
It was announced this week that the junior varsity will only play two quarters Monday, beginning at 6 p.m., so the Senior Night activities will begin a little earlier than previously planned, probably around 6:30.
