Rome

1-6-2013. Sure glad all the holidays are over, maybe I can get the days straight again.

Pastor David Welsh at Goodhope General Baptist Church suggested having a chili cook-off. They decided to have it New Year’s Eve along with food and games to start the New Year off. There was lots of children, adults, food and drinks. A good time for fun and fellowship. Prizes for the cook off went as follows: first place went to me (Pauline), 2nd, Norma Cross and 3rd went to Danny Davis. I told Norma who is my sister that neither one of us would win anything because we don’t make greasy chili, so we were surprised.

Norma and I have been to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare checking on our sister-in-law, Peggy Jenkins, who is still in a lot pain. Randy took her to Springfield Wednesday to have an M.R.I. The problem was in her vertabrae area. They will be doing a procedure on her Wednesday. We have been seeing Irene Richards and Goldie Miller and others on our trips to see Peggy.

Norma and I will be driving to Claremore, OK. to visit relatives Sunday after church.

It looks like Plainview ball games will be starting up Tuesday. The kids are excited about getting to play basketball. This will be 3rd through 6th grades.

Attendance at Goodhope General Baptist Sunday was 72.

It was sure good to see Susie Adams back in church again. She has been out a while due to illness. It was also good to have Jeannie Miller with us.

Bob Huskey sang a special with Glen Robertson on banjo, Mary Baumgardner on harmonica, Sue Brown on piano.

Tom Brown finally got results on the MRI he had on his back. He has compression fractures on T8 and T9 in his back. He has to wear a brace.

Pastor David Welsh used scripture Luke 23:34-46.

New Year’s Day Terry and Mel came by Tom and Sue’s for a while and had black eyed peas with hamhocks, Mexican cornbread and cheese cake, a New Year’s tradition.
