Howard Lee Gott, 73

Howard Gott, 73 years, passed away on Jan. 12, 2013 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo.
Howard was born in Douglas County, Mo., in the Roy community to Fremont and Verla (Roberts) Gott. He graduated from Ava High School. Howard was a  U.S. Army veteran and served his country from 1958 to 1961.
On Feb. 1, 1965 Howard and Carole Loftin were united in marriage in Miami, Okla., and to this union two sons were born.
Howard was a resident of  Squires, Mo., but lived most of his life in the Goodhope community and worked as a farmer and a truck driver. He enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, trading, going to swap meets and garage sales. Most of all, he loved Carole’s cooking.
Howard was recently led to the Lord by his brother-in-law, Marvin Loftin.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Brent; and two brothers, John and Lawrence Gott.
Howard is survived by his wife Carole, of the home; one son, Brad Gott; two granchildren, Chance and Caitlin Gott; and many other friends and family.
Funeral services for Howard were Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Mills Cemetery west of Ava with full military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post 112. Visitation was Tuesday  from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating were Pastor Neal Crum and Rev. Frances Humbyrd. Memorials may be made to the Mills Cemetery or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
