It’s a beautiful Tuesday morning with the sun shining through my front window. I appreciate our beautiful sunny days, but we’re desperate for rain and heard we were to get rain tomorrow night then forecasting maybe Thursday or Friday.
This being Tuesday we will not be quilting today. Some of the quilters had things they had to do today. The prayer time changed to 5 p.m. and Bible study at 6 p.m. as usual on Tuesdays.
I was sorry to hear yersterday that Dick Richards passed away, his wife Pauline was in Oklahoma visiting her family there and he had a heart attack. Pauline is my first cousin and I’m so sorry for her loss. Also Lawrence Thompson, Connie Sherrill’s dad who passed away over the weekend I was told.
I want to wish Bro. Bernie and Sis. Lena Hutchison a Happy Anniversary this week. Also a Happy Birthday to our daughter, Sherry Wallace. I believe it was also Sis. Debbie McHaffie’s birthday.
Sis. Betty Hesterlee, Sis. Charlotte Brown and Sis. Sheryl Chance are in need of prayers for illness.
We had good services Sunday. It was also our Sunday to minister at the nursing home. We appreciated Bro. Victor Murdy leading that service and he and Sis. Loretta Dewitt doing the music and we all helped with singing. My sister from Mountain Grove, Lorene Byrd, came and we visited with our sister, Goldie Miller and her daughter, Reba, who was there and they came down for the service later. It’s also time for our ladies to make cakes again for birthdays at the nursing home this week.
Pastor Benny Dewitt preached Sunday morning from Psalms 40:2, which said, “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.” He then went to John 4:4-24 preaching there about the woman at the well who was a Samaritan and a sinner. Jesus told her in the 24th verse, “God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
Sunday night Sis. Loretta preached from Deuteronomy 4:2-4 and Daniel 3:4-18. Mostly about the three Hebrew children in the fiery furnace. They had refused in Daniel 3:16 saying, “Oh Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. If it be so our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from this burning fiery furnace and he will deliver us out of thine hand O King. But if not, be it known unto thee O King that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou has set up.” We need this determination today also.
We had several special songs Sunday night by Sis. Debbie McHaffie, Sis. Lena Hutchison, Sis. Carol Carson, Bro. and Sis. Murdy, Bro. Benny and Sis. Loretta Dewitt and Bro. Roland Carson.
We heard this morning that our brother-in-law in Independence, Mo. Leland Peters passed away last night. His wife was Lola Huffman Peters, Jerry’s sister, who passed away some time ago. Leland had been having problems with ill health for some time. It’s sad when you start losing family and friends whom you’ve known for so long.
God bless you all.
