The Ava Lady Bears fell to Buffalo, 61-54, in the first round of the Lebanon Holiday Tournament last week, but recovered to win two games in the consolation bracket.
After Thursday’s loss to the Bison, Ava defeated Eugene, 62-59, on Friday, and beat Conway in the consolation championship on Saturday, 48-46.
Eight different players scored for Coach Clint Gazette’s Lady Bears against Buffalo on Thursday, led by Hanna Johnson with 15 points. Bailey Lee added 11, followed by MaKenna Hunsaker 8, Erica Croney 6, Jacey Swofford 5, Callie Eubanks 5, Shelby Campbell 2, and Rachel Swofford 2.
Morgan Henderson scored 30 points for Buffalo and Taylor Faulkner added 20.
Johnson again led the Ava girls in the win over Eugene on Friday with 21 points, as four girls scored in double figures.
Lee had 12 points and Croney and Jacey Swofford each added 10. Campbell had 4 points, Eubanks 3 and Hunsaker 2.
Kayla Adrian had 25 points for Eugene and Kassie Morrow added 10.
No individual scoring information was available for the Conway game.
The Lady Bears will resume play Monday, hosting Salem in SCA action. On Thursday, Jan. 10, the Cabool Lady Bulldogs will be here in conference play.
