Ava JV Boys Improve Season Record To 8-3

Ava’s Junior Varsity boys’ basketball team has improved its record to 8-3 over the past week with wins over Buffalo (56-21), Pleasant Hope (62-51), Houston (68-24), and Morrisville (58-29).

The Bears took 2nd place in the Fair Grove tournament with a loss to Fair Grove.

Ava hosted Marion C. Early of Morrisville Tuesday night and came away with a 58-29 win.  The scoring was led by Chase Gastineau with 15 points and followed by Cody Huff 13, Jesse Dean 9, Seth Dobbs 6, Nate Bray 5, John Luebbering 4, Shannon Porter 4, and Colton Akers 2.

The JV held Morrisville to 16 points in the first half and the Bears came out strong in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Panthers of Marion C. Early, 19-8.

The freshmen entered the game in the 4th quarter and outscored Morrisville by 7 points.

Ava’s freshman team is playing in the Willow Springs Freshman Tournament this week and defeated Licking, 30-27 Monday night. The Bears will play top-seed West Plains in the semifinals tonight at 5:30, with the finals beginning at 1 o’clock Saturday with the consolation game. The third place game is set for 2:15 and the championship at 3:30.
