Animal League Receives Grant from Community Foundation

Foundation-AAAWL.125The Douglas County Community Foundation recently presented a $1,000 donation to the Ava Area Animal Welfare League, Jr. (AAAWL,Jr.) for their local spay/neuter program. The AAAWL,Jr. is a non-profit organization made up of youth and adult community members who share an interest in the well-being of animals. These funds will be used to assist local owners of dogs and cats in the spay or neutering of their pets, helping to reduce the numbers of unwanted puppies and kittens in our area. Present for the check presentation last Thursday at the Ava Middle School were (students in front, from left): Betty Stout, Alivia Roberts, Taylor Godbey and Ali Hall; and in back from left: Marilyn Alms, Mary Chipps, Danny Letsinger, Janice Lorrain, Betty Ridenour, Lynda Clouse, Pat Patton and Irene Bessette, owner of Dakota (front center). Letsinger, Lorrain and Ridenour represent Douglas County Community Foundation. The others represent the Animal Welfare League.
