Today’s sermon by Bro. Rick Batten:  Romans 3: 9,14, 28 and 2nd Corinthians 4:6.  Bro. Rick did a sermon on not being “Grumpy” and “Being Cheerful”.  It was a good time of year for an uplifting ‘think about’ sermon.  “Good news makes me feel good.  Bad news makes me feel bad.  When plans change, ‘grouchy’ shows up. I would rather be on Cloud 9, then down in my mood.  Those that put on a smile, have a natural glow about them”.  He gave a good example about an ugly rock, but once it is put in a tumbler, it can become beautiful and shiny- a gorgeous jewel.  He gave examples of people in the Bible who had an evil spirit- like King Saul.  He told us that in Proverbs, we need to have a Merry Heart, and we will have a cheerful countenance. We need to enjoy life.  If we take the news too seriously, we will get “down”.  We need to be aware, but some things we cannot change.  We need to remember that God has some good things going on in our lives.  We have food, clothes, and we are free. He reminded us to look at life through a glass ½ full not ½ empty.  He reminded us to put on a smile, so we really need to do that during the Christmas season and continue throughout the year.

Great quote in today’s bulletin:  Prayer is not a ‘spare wheel’ that you pull out when in trouble; it is a ‘steering wheel’ that directs us in the right path throughout life.

Remember the Christmas Program and Pot Luck next Sunday the 16th.  Bring a Friend.  Questions:  Bro. Rick 417-683-5657 or 250-0918/ Shelby Housley 746-4743/ Shelby Moore 746-4751.
