Greetings from a very tired old woman. James and me attended the Christmas luncheon for the Delmina Woods girls at the VFW in Ozark. The girls had two short skits. They were good. Jack Hailey asked James to say the blessing before the noon meal. They served a great dinner. We visited before it got started so we went a little early because we were going to Ava for our Aunt Rhoda Thomas’ funeral. We went to the visitation Thursday night. Rev. Joe Lafferty did a good job officiating at the funeral. His children, David, Judy and Susie sang three pretty songs and as they always do a fine job. Sympathy to Wanda and family and Ronnie and family. So Friday was a full day. We stopped by at Amanda Siler’s flower shop and visited her a few minutes. She is Junior and Betty Halcomb’s granddaughter.
Christmas program at Garrison Baptist Church will be December 16th at 6:30 p.m. Sunday night and all are most welcome. Finger foods will be served after the program.
On December 24th we hope Delmina Woods girls can put on their Christmas skits. Church gave a love offering to the council who helps with things for the girls and have adopted a girl for buying them a Christmas gift.
I hope all my readers and everyone have a very Merry Christmas and a great 2013.
Sunday we had 62 for church at Garrison. Lisa Ellison sang a special song and also did one with grandson, Wyatt. Our young people also sang. Pastor James Orick brought the weekend message.
Ervin and Sandra Maggard ate dinner Sunday with his mom, Iona Maggard. Ervin and Sandra visited later with Dwight and family to visit Madison.
Rex and Shirley Halcomb took Christmas flowers to Mt. Olive (Highlonesome) and Temple Hill Cemeteries where their folks are buried. Thurday they attended their Aunt Rhoda Thomas’ visitation.
The saws have been buzzing for several weeks. Kevin Nelson’s loggers have been working on his great uncle, Jerry Nelson’s place. When winter time gets hard we know where to borrow a few bucks at. Ha!
Bob and Lou Raines have a week full of Christmas gatherings.
Sympathy to Sue Rozell as her aunt passed away.
Wednesday night Bible Study is at 6:30 p.m. at Garrison Baptist Church. The regular teacher will be gone for a few Wednesday nights. James has been having open discussion. People have questions and they need answers.
Katie Melton who was hurt in an auto accident was moved from Cox to Mt. Vernon. She lost her son in the accident. Gordon Jones is better, but both need your prayers. It will be five weeks in the hospital for Gordon this Thursday. He enjoys company and so does the family members who are with him. Zelda was at church Sunday night, she said he liked company and enjoyed the cards he had received.
Sunday James and I went to the cemetery. The Christmas flowers looked nice and pretty on Mom and Dad’s graves and my baby brother’s grave and our brother-in-law, Oren Harvill’s grave. Also Ruth Moore has a nice tombstone set. Loved ones need stones set for many reasons.
Thought: May your troubles in the coming New Year be as short lived as your resolutions.
