Ruby Coralee Ferguson, 82

Ruby Coralee Ferguson, daughter of George Spurgeon and Evelyn Rosë, was born Aug. 17, 1930 in Tulare, Calif. She departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Mo., at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 9 days.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Charles, and daughter Margret; and a brother John.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Charlotte, of Auburn, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brothers Bob and wife Loree of Red Bluff, Calif., Lee and wife Helen of Mercer, Mo.; her sisters Peggy Spurgeon of Red Bluff, Calif., Jean and husband Charles of Centralia, Mo.; her dear friend Ron Robbins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.
Katie, as she was known by her family and friends from the song her father would sing, was raised in Aromas, Calif., where she attended middle school and then went to Watsonville High School. In 1967, she graduated from Auburn, Calif.
She was blessed to be the mother of three children, and worked as a chef in country clubs and restaurants to provide for them. She enjoyed the simple things of life and was quite a character. Katie was quick to laugh and always encouraged others. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist, and humbly served her Lord. Katie loved her church family and was a powerful prayer warrior for them.
In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She used her talents in sewing to give back to others. Katie loved spending time with her friends, family and her dogs.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend, Katie leaves behind a legacy of love and faith. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will forever cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and all those who knew and loved her.
Graveside services for Ruby C. (Katie) Ferguson were held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11:30 a.m. in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Homes of Seymour. No formal viewing or visitation. Online condolences may be made at www.holmanhoweseymour.com.
