Roffmann To Be Honored by U.S. Army All-American Band

The 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will visit Ava High School, on Friday, Nov. 2, to select saxophone player Jimmy Roffmann to the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
Ava High School will honor Roffmann before his fellow band members, classmates, fans and family during an assembly in the high school gym.
The All-American Marching Band performs at halftime of the nationally-broadcasted U.S. Army All-American Bowl. By becoming an Army All-American band member, Roffmann joins an elite group. Only 125 high school band members among the millions in the United States are selected each year.
Band members are chosen not just because they excel in music, but because they embody the same values of our Army Strong Soldiers – values like Loyalty and Respect.
The school assembly and presentation will be made at 2:50 p.m.
For the past 12 years, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been the nation’s premier high school football game, serving as the preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars.
Percy Harvin, Jamaal Charles, Patrick Peterson, and Andrew Luck all made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans. The 2011 U.S. Army All-American Bowl drew a crowd of nearly 39,011 to the Alamodome, and was the most-watched sporting event on television over the weekend, excluding the NFL playoffs.
