This Sunday morning after choir and congregational singing, we were treated to a special by Bro. Gary Martin and then proceeded with the morning message which was taken from Lamentations 3:21-26, entitled “Getting Serious About Worship.”
We examined examples like “Rachel,” the wife of Jacob in Genesis 31:19 and 34. Considering the fact that she had stolen household gods of her father, Alban, as an insurance policy for prosperity, she probably was not, ‘at least at this point’ all that serious about the worship of the God of Israel.
Then we examined the life of King Josiah in II Chronicles 34:1-7. He not only tore down the idols but had them ground into dust and strewn over the graves of those who had worshipped them. He seems to to have been very serious about the worship of the God of Israel.
Our evening message was taken from Romans 8:28, in light of the promise of this passage to all who “Love God, and are the called according to His purpose.”
