Sunday, September 23 was the sixteenth Sunday after trinity. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the epistle for the day, Ephesians 3:13, “I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you…” We must find our place in God’s plan and for what purpose He created us, and for Paul that purpose is to do service centered on God and our fellow man. Paul’s suffering is part of his service and must be accepted with humility.
Our annual Blessing of the Animals will take place on Saturday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m., the feast day of St. Francis who is patron saint of animals. Bring your pets to the church to receive a blessing.
Saturday, September 22 was the opening night of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and Chandler Connell and I attended the concert amd heard an excellent program of Russian music played by Russian pianist Gleb Ivanov under the baton of guest conductor Andres Franco. Before the concert we attended a dinner given by the Springfield Symphony Guild which was held in the Tower Club on the top of the Hammons Tower building and excellent food and stimulating conversation with fellow music lovers.
