Sunday, September 16 was the fifteenth Sunday after Trinity. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the Old Testament reading for the day, Deuteronomy 7:6-12, “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people of his own possession….” In this passage Moses tells the Jews they are God’s chosen people and tells them they are to be the world’s religious leaders and that God will keep his obligation to them but requires obedience in return. God will bless those who keep his covenant.
