DCAR Radio Club monthly meeting was held on September 15th, 2012. We discussed upcoming classes and set dates for Tech Class and CW Class. We also discussed ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) which we have over 10 members who are trained and ready to help in an event or disaster. We hold nightly nets at 7:30 p.m. on the K0DCA repeater 146.925 with a minus offset and a pl tone of 162.2. On Tuesday evenings we hold a ARES training net.
We will be starting the Tech Class, on October 6 and 13th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on the 20th we will test at 9:00 a.m. and our club meeting is at 11:00 a.m. Please contact Teresa Tost at [email protected] or call 417-686-4025 for information on the cost of the class. You will need to bring to the first class a pencil or ink pen. We will take a lunch break at 11:30 to 12:30. You can bring your lunch or go to town.
The location for the class is at the Four/way stop on Highway 5 South and 76 West continue on West 76 for 1.1 miles, the church is on the right St. Francis Anglican Church. You will see a white fence, if you pass it, turn around and come back. It is easy to miss the driveway.
We will also be holding a CW Class in January 2013. Watch for day and time. You do not have to be a ham radio operator to attend our meetings. Come and visit with ham radio operators from Douglas, Wright, Webster and Ozark Counties. All ages are welcome. We hold our meetings once a month and in December we have a Christmas Party. We will be having a float in the Christmas Parade this year and a yard sale in October.
