Cecil Wade Ferguson, 81

Cecil Wade Ferguson, 81 years, passed to heaven on Sept. 16, 2012 at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo.

Cecil was born June 16, 1931 in Bertha, Mo., to Jack and Ella (Stone) Ferguson.

Cecil was a resident of Ava for the past 19 years moving from the Cedar Gap area. Cecil and Mary Lou were united in marriage on Oct. 17, 1975 in Carson City, Nev.

Cecil was a retired supervisor with Max Hayes Plumbing in Fresno, Calif., for about 30 years.   He was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Douglas County American Legion Post #112 and a member of the Cedar Gap Baptist Church in Seymour, Mo.

Cecil enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, horseback riding and building things. He delighted in teasing people and telling a joke.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ella; one brother, David; and one sister, Maggie; and two sons, Bill and Scott Saylor.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Ferguson of Ava, Mo.; one daughter, Lorna Bowen, Somis, Calif.; three sons, Brian Ferguson, Phoenix, Ariz., Mark Ferguson, Teague, Texas, Daniel Saylor, Springfield, Mo.; four   grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Robin Roberts, Mtn. Grove, Mo.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Cecil will be Thursday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with military honors by Douglas County American Legion Post 112. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. (off of Evans Road) on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. with full military honors.

Visitation was Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating is Pastor Keith Adamson. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
