Benjamin F. Denney, 76

Benjamin Franklin Denney, 76, passed to Heaven on Sept. 7, 2012 at his home.

Ben was born Sept. 3, 1936 in Douglas County, Mo., to Benjamin and Ethel Mae (Cox) Denney.

Ben and Mae Leckenby were united in marriage on June 1, 1961 in Ava, Mo. To this union five children were born.

Ben was preceded by his parents, one son, Benjamin Franklin IV, two brothers, and one sister.

Ben loved to hunt deer, as well as playing with his grandchildren.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Mae, of the home; four daughters, Kathy Findley and husband David, Ava, Mo., Ethel Mae Johnson, Mt. Vernon, Mo., Connie Dougherty, Ava, Mo., Billie Ramsey and husband Kent, Licking, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Shumate and husband, Lloyd, Ruby Graham and husband, Don, Loetta Kelley and husband, Mike, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Tabor Church, with burial in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Officiating was Dennis Shumate. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
