Sunday, August 19 was the eleventh Sunday after Trinity. Bishop Hartley based his sermon on the epistle for the day, I Corinthians 15:1, “Brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received and wherein ye stand.” These lines are meant to refresh the memories of the people of Corinth regarding the basic beliefs which Paul had preached and of their gospel mission. This is not revelation according to Paul, but the tradition of Christ’s mission which he had received and transmitted to the church at Corinth.
Lincoln Connell reported a very satisfying experience last week when he and his family attended the event at the Springfield airport at which a vintage B29 bomber plane from World War II landed at the airport and was available to the public. Lincoln is involved in World War II Reenactment and volunteered this summer at the air and military museum in Springfield. He attended this event wearing his vintage World War II uniform, met several World War II veterans and escorted them onto the plane.
