FAITH. Did you know that faith is a substance? The Bible says that it is (Heb 11). It is described as a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The Bible also says several times that the just shall live by faith (Heb 10). That means that believers who are justified righteous by God through faith in Jesus’ sacrifice for their sins shall live by faith in Him. So, I have a question: How is your level of faith right now?
I have some good news – the good news is that the Bible says faith comes (Rom 10). The way faith comes is by hearing the word of God.
If you answered that your faith is high, that is wonderful. But if it is low or could be higher, it is because you have not heard enough of the Word or have heard too many things that do not build your faith.
News broadcasts are a good example of something that will steal your faith and replace it with fear. Friends and family can also say things without realizing it that are contrary to God’s word and will deplete their faith and yours. But the good news is that the simple way to build your faith and the faith of those around you is to speak words that agree with the word of God, and when possible, lessen your exposure to faith robbers (like the national news) as your faith grows.
Faith comes by hearing the word of God.
Many God loving, sincere believers may be lacking faith because of what they are hearing, and I pray that you will grab a hold of this next thing I write, because it is important. You hear what others say, but most importantly, you hear what you say. (I’m speaking to myself, too).
You may go to church every Sunday and Wednesday, that’s great, and read your Bible every day for an hour (or more), but the Bible says faith comes by hearing not by reading. How is your time used during the rest of the week? What are you hearing and what are you saying? If you hear more from this ungodly world, (a lack of God) and if you speak things that agree with what the world says, more than you hear and speak what God says, your faith will be low.
Faith comes when you hear the word of God.
Faith comes for example, when you and I speak of how much God loves us and we hear what we say. You do not have to be a teacher or preacher to speak words that agree with God. You don’t have to quote the Bible exactly. For example, I can say, “God loves you”, without having to quote, “For God so loved the world….”
Another example; you may say to yourself, “I know God will help me get this done”, without having to quote “I can do all things thru Christ…”
I hope you are getting a hold of this, because the believer can never have too much faith. But the believer can have too little faith! If I say, “I’ll never be able to do this” – that is contrary to God’s word which says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”, and “with God all things are possible”.
Dear readers, if your faith needs building, I encourage you to practice speaking words that agree with God. God has good things to say about you and your life. He has a good plan for you no matter how young or old you are. He even cautions us to speak words that agree with Him through Proverbs chapter 18, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.
When we speak words that are contrary to God’s word, we are actually agreeing with the Devil and are speaking words of death into our lives and others, and who wants to do that?
Your words, spoken in agreement with God’s word will build your faith and change your life. Discover the good things God has for you in His Word and speak them.
Your heavenly Father will be pleased, you will be blessed, you will be a blessing to others, and your faith will grow.
Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
