Red Bank Church

Hello from Red Bank.  Praise the Lord for the much needed rain we received this weekend.  We are still asking Him for more rain so the pasture will soon grow back for the cattle to graze on and the ponds will, again, be full.

This has been a busy month with 4th of July celebration activities, family reunions, vacations and now Vacation Bible School which is scheduled at Red Bank for Monday, July 23rd through the Friday, July 27th.   The VBS will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 12:00 noon every day.  Snacks and a light lunch will be served each day also.  The theme this year is, “Gold Rush.”   Grab your bandana, your hat and your boots Partners, and head for the Red Bank gold rush territory, cause we’re a fixen ta mine for true gold.  For more information call 683-5991.

I mentioned reunions.  The Adams reunion was held in the Red Bank Fellowship room Saturday, July 14th .  I haven’t received an official count yet, but that affair was very well attended.  Folks from as far as California and Arkansas came to visit with their family.  Now that’s impressive. Willene Adams presented a short program with a song called, “God’s Blessing on Me” along with a poem and a reading about how things have changed throughout the years.  Everyone really enjoyed listening to her presentation. Willene is 90 years young and still going strong for the Lord.  She is an inspiration to all that know her.

Gary and I attended a reunion in Arkansas last weekend.  Our daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Mark Fawcett and family invited us to the Fawcett reunion.  It was a chance to meet half way and spend some time visiting with our children and grandchildren.  We don’t get to see them but once or twice a year so we made a special effort to attend the reunion.  We really enjoyed visiting with Mark’s family too.  Their family sings and plays instruments and of course our family loves to sing  so we get along just great.  Their afternoon program was an All Gospel sing-a-long.  What a joy it was to take part in that.

Visiting with Gary and me the week of the fourth of July was our son, Les, and his family, Jeanine, Ryker, Ryan and Hannah.  Maxine Lirley, Jeane and Jerry Huff, Jake Hampton and James and Debbie Lirley and granddaughter joined us for an afternoon barbeque on the 4th.  I even made some homemade ice cream, which is somewhat of a tradition at our house.  Les was our barbeque chef and his hamburgers were excellent.

The Les Hallmark family made a trip on the 4th of July to attend a family reunion in Illinois.  They reported a great time visiting with Eloise’s family there.

Gary Lirley began last Sunday’s Church service at Red Bank by leading the congregation in hymns. Jerry Huff gave the morning greeting to members and guest and introduced the Sunday school lesson.  Special music was presented by the Adams family.  It is always a blessing to hear that family sing together.  I’m sure that Willene was happy to have her family sing with her again.

For the morning sermon, Brother Les spoke about the fact that God loves to bless his people.  We cannot out give our Lord and Master.  In Luke 6:38 Jesus said, Give, and it shall be given unto you: good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom, For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  God gives only the best to his children.  When we put our trust in Jesus, His Son, we become his adopted heirs.  What more could one ask for or hope for than to be a Child of God.

Sharing a Sunday meal with Gary and me were Gary’s mother, Maxine and her brother, Galen Hall.

Galen’s home is in California.  He came to Missouri to attend the Adams reunion and spend quality time with close family.  While here, he also visited in the homes of James and Debbie Lirley and Jeane and Jerry Huff.  Of course he spent time visiting with his sister Willene Adams.  Another sister, Lynn Halcomb and her daughter, Shelly Parham, traveled from Wichita, Kansas to visit with her brother Galen, her sisters, Maxine and Willene and attend the Adams reunion to visit with other family members.

That’s all the news for now.  Take care and remember that God loves you more.
