Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center

Hello from our home to your home, we have enjoyed some of the rainy days around here.  The weather is so different this summer.   We appreciate everyone who has donated fruits and vegetables from their gardens this summer.  We have enjoyed them.  The Cooking Club peeled apples and made crock-pot apple butter.  Everyone is delighted to have this with their breakfast of the morning.

Recipe: fill a crock-pot with sliced apples, add a 1/2 water, then add 1 cup white sugar and 1 cup brown sugar and add cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ground cloves and let this simmer for several hours.   It makes 6 pints of apple butter.   It is so good and it lasts in the refrigerator for several weeks. Ruth Evans helped the residents with this cooking class.

Sara and Whitney from Three Rivers Hospice have been doing fingernails on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.   We have both ladies and gentlemen getting their nails done.

Warren Gunter and Pebbles Jones from Three Rivers Hospice called games on Thursday afternoon and everyone had a very good time with them.

The Birthday Party was held Wednesday afternoon with Roy and Pauline Murrill, H.K. Silvey and his grandson, Lance. The birthday cakes were provided by Oak Grove Church and boy, were they good.  Sue Hartgraves also baked a cake and brought in, a very lemon, lemon cake and it was good.   We appreciate everyone for a great party.

Ava Full Gospel Church was here that evening for church in the main lobby.

Our country van ride was a big hit with Bill Herrington, Angie Adams, Mike Graham, Peggy Jenkins and Daryl Knapp.  We went to Sonic for Ice cream treats, tater tots and root beer float all furnished by Sonic.   We went looking for apples to make our apple butter.  We found some but ended up buying the biggest majority of our apples.

Galen Hall, brother of Maxine Lirley and Willene Adams and also uncle of Angie and Robert Adams sponsored a Ice Cream Social for all the residents.   You could have your choice of chocolate, carmel or strawberry topping with whipped cream and nuts.   Several residents wanted seconds and they got them.   It was so nice of Galen to do this for us, he is in from California.

ZUMBA MAN, Gene Crites was here Friday afternoon for zumba with the residents and staff.  Everyone had a good time during this zumba class.   Carrie McIntosh and granddaughter, Lucy called games in the afternoon.  Carrie is always giving away a prize during playing time.   Leo Brooks was the winner this week.

One of  our most important roles here at HOTO is sponsoring a blooddrive with Community Blood Center out of Springfield, MO. These following people gave blood or tried to give:
