Summer’s always a busy time around our church and God has blessed us with so much this past month. We had a huge success with Vacation Bible School. Attendance was wonderful and so many kids benefited from our daily Bible lessons and fellowship with each other. We appreciate everyone who made that possible. We did have our church camp as well and we were glad to offer a week at camp for every age group.
We appreciate those for making those delicious and abundant desserts for camp this year.
In Jude, verses 1 – 7, we are warned to always be vigilant about those who try to teach us falsely. They can slip in amongst us and we have to care enough about our faith and be practiced in the Word to defend the Truth. God’s word is the Truth and in order to defend it, we must stay in the Word and be aware of those who would lead us from that Truth. It’s so easy to get tripped up. Remember to confess our sin and seek forgiveness each day. Don’t take the chance of slipping out of God grace and be lost. We must care enough to not get ourselves separated from God. As we grow in our personal relationship with Jesus, we can grow strong enough to battle everything Satan throws in front of us.
Monday July 16th through Wednesday July 18th, the General Baptist denomination is holding their annual national Summit meeting in Springfield, Missouri. This Mission and Ministry Summit will hold seminars and workshops, as well as having guest speakers each day. Please pray for our Summit and for anyone who attends this year, so we can strive to help others know the way to Jesus. They are looking for volunteers to work the registration for the Summit so if you are willing to help, let the office know.
Our quarterly business meeting was held Wednesday July 11 so our adult Bible study was dismissed this week. Also the Youth will be at the pool Wednesday July 11th at 6:30 p.m. It should be a good time since it’s been so hot. Next Wednesday, July 18th, we will be dismissing both Bible Study and Youth Ministries due to the M & M Summit in Springfield. Later on in the month, on Sunday July 29th, there will be fellowship after the evening services.
Keep your prayers going for all those on our prayer list. Many are facing hospitals stays, whether waiting for surgery or recovering from it. Doris Elliott’s surgery went well as she is recovering at home. We pray for Bud Clinkingbeard as we heard he was back in the hospital. Remember those who are home bound or without loved ones close. I’ve heard several ask for silent prayers and God knows exactly what those needs are but we really need to lift them all to Him. We praise Him for whatever rain has fallen in the last few days as well as a continued prayer for rain to continue in order to help relieve those who are still so dry. We know everything happens in His own time and we must remember to praise and thank Him for what we do have.
We’d like to invite you to worship at Ava General Baptist Church if you don’t have a church home. Our services are at 8:30 am or 10:45 am. Let God fill you with His peace through our Lord Jesus Christ. Stay in God’s Word this week and let us walk in the Truth every day. See you Sunday! God Bless.
