I like to read my Bible.
It wasn’t until adulthood that I really came to the Lord, though I had been baptized as a teenager, but after I made the decision that I really wanted a relationship with God, my appetite for the things of God grew, especially reading his word. And like a little baby bird, my spirit opened it’s mouth and fed on the wonderful word of God, and I grew. Step by step and as the Bible says, from faith to faith, I grew, as we all do, growing in grace and the knowledge of Christ. I progressed from reading the bible to feed my spirit to a deeper study of the Bible, and began to use a Strong’s Concordance to get a better understanding of certain words in the original languages. As I drew near to God, he drew near to me, and as the bible says God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
During one time period, I studied the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) and noticed something I had not noticed before, though I had read them many, many times – that Jesus healed everyone who sought him for healing. Interesting, I thought. I didn’t know it at the time, but I had received a spark of revelation from the Holy Spirit.
At church that week, I commented on how interesting it was about Jesus healing everyone that came to him, and it was interesting, but it was only “interesting”. It was all the light of revelation I was able to receive, but it was a step.
The revelation that Jesus healed everyone who sought him remained with me for several years, until one day a TV preacher claimed healing was still for us today, and not only that, but also Jesus provided healing for us over 2,000 years ago. Now, I preferred to not listen to this preacher, I had heard them before and just didn’t want to listen to them, I couldn’t say why, I just didn’t want to. But that day, it was like the Lord impressed upon my heart to listen, so I did. Then the Lord impressed upon my heart to prove them wrong using the scriptures.
So, for months in my spare time I searched and studied the scriptures, and prayed, and sought God’s help, and studied some more, and I could not prove them wrong, no matter which direction I came from. The Bible showed every time, when a person rightly divides the word of truth, that healing has not passed away and is the same for us today as it was during Jesus’ ministry on the earth that continued with the ministry of the Holy Spirit during the days of the early church and the Apostles. Jesus provided for everything we need, deliverance, salvation, and healing over 2,000 years ago and it is here for us, this precious gift from Jesus who loves us.
Like so many others, I had always heard that people “caught colds” and “took the flu” and that it is our “thorn in the flesh” or our “cross to bear”, and that particular diseases ran in families so certain ones can expect to get certain things, and when one gets old they can expect to have arthritis and a breakdown of the body, etc. It was what I was taught and what others were taught. I didn’t know any better, but, thank God, I had received enough faith in God from studying his word, that I could receive the opening of my understanding by the wonderful Holy Spirit to the healing Jesus has provided for us. Before my faith came, I would not have received that revelation, I would not have believed it. It was too fantastic, like something out of a science fiction novel. But, having eternal life is pretty far out there too, and I know for sure that I have eternal life through Jesus. So if you are willing, we are going to walk through what the bible says about the healing Jesus has provided for us, and we are going to come at it from several different directions to build up our faith in God. I pray that you receive revelation knowledge through the wonderful Holy Spirit as we learn this truth. He loves you!
Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
