T.O.P.S.

Tuesday, May 1st T.O.P.S. #0720 met and was called to order by Sharon with fifteen weighing in with a total loss of 1.75 lbs. Top loser was Rachel.  Sharon, Evelyn, and Ulla all stayed the same. Sharon picked all of us up the Storm Alert Maps from KTTS 94.7 FM, we appreciateher.
Kathleen had the lesson, ”Losing 10% of your Weight.”The example was 22 lbs being 10% of 220 lbs. Just this small loss can lower your blood pressure, lower your risk to develop type 2 diabetes, give you more pep, and help you to be more self-confident. Setting small goals is better.
The 8 tips to better health from an article, were;
1.    Control portion sizes.
2.    Eat more fruits and vegetables.
3.    Select whole grains instead of white bread or pasta.
4.    Limit fats and cholestral.
5.    Choose low fat protein.
6.    Reduce sodium in foods.
7.    Plan ahead, make meal plans.
8.    Allow an occasional treat.
The meeting ended with TOPS Pledge being recited by members. T.O.P.S. (Take Off  Pounds Sensibly) is a non-profit, international weight loss support group open to anyone seven years of age or older. The MO #0720 chapter meets every Tuesday from 3p.m. to 4p.m. in the basement of the courthouse, Come visit us and sit in on a meeting, if you would like to find out more about T.O.P.S.
