Hello from our home to your home, April was a very busy month for our home. We have had Easter Egg Hunts, visited with Peter Rabbit, several groups of school children have been here helping get our garden and flower beds in shape for spring planting.
Tom Hawkins was really working them. They were down on their hands and knees just digging that old dirt with hand trowels as if enjoye doit it and, you know what, I just imagine they did! Tom grows beautiful flowers, but that’s not all-he grows good tomatoes, too. Some others were helping in Bingo. I hope they had fun.
Yesterday was a big day for me. I finally got our damaged garden angel finished and all ready to be put out again. My friend, Ralph Laughlin, had told me to call him to come and set her out so he could fix her not to tip over and be broken again, so this is what I did and he came right in to do that and did a fine job and furnished the necessary supplies, too.
Thank you, Ralph, from all of us and especially me! Years ago Ralph adopted me as his “MOM” and he visits me every week with a certain candy each time-really thoughtful and kind and Barbadeen, his wife.
Connie and I found a big, flat rock for me to paint. I got it finished today and I will put it out there where the statue as it says, “Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center”.
We appreciate the person who gave us so many lovely new jig-saw puzzles. We are glad they are the ones with fewer pieces than 1000. We have worked several of these already.
We appreciate the following churches who visited with us in the month of April, they are Gentry Church, Ava Full Gospel Church, Faith Rock Church, Goodhope, General Baptist, Mt. Tabor, and First Southern Baptist Churches.
Volunteers are very special around our home, Theta Porter who helps deliver dinner trays on Sunday, the 1st Sonshine Group who plays and sings their way into our hearts each Friday. The volunteers from Three Rivers Hospice, Jamya Potter, Whitney Pollard, Sara Pebbles Jones, Warren Gunter and Jeff Smith. Evelyn Harper from Hospice Compassus, Ruth Evans, Larry Moore, Darlene Sorenson, Norma Stillings, Mike Santos, Carrie McIntosh, Wilda Potter, Yorik the Wonder Dog, Kingdom Kids just to name a few of my good help. Resident volunteers are very special too, they spend a lot of time helping others. Maxine Lirley, Bill Herrington, Tom Hawkins and Anna Worthy all do a very good job.
A lot of residents help other residents to their rooms, and to the dining room.
We are making plans for National Nursing Home Week which is May 13-18. We are planning a Mother’s Day Tea, Western Day, Play Ball Day, Pajamas Day, 50′s at the Hop and Tonya Sue’s Day. Residents are getting ready for a week of fun, games and good food.
We are also making plans for our 27th Annual 4th of July Celebration on June 29th. Another day full of fun, games, food, visiting and great music. If you would like to have a booth at the 4th please call Connie at 683-4129.
God bless you from Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center in Ava.
