Ava Qualifies Events For State Sectional Track Meet At Marshfield This Saturday

Kyle Clinkingbeard broke the Ava school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.43 seconds at the district track meet last Saturday, placing third in the event. That qualifies him to compete at the state sectional meet at Marshfield this Saturday.
Dakota Renner placed fourth in both the 3200-meter run and the 1600-meter run with times of 4:41 and 10:35, respectively.
The 4×800-meter relay team placed first at district with a time of 8:19. Team members are Renner, Clinkingbeard, Chase Dixon and Jordan Dimirskey. These events also qualify for the state sectional meet.
The only girl to place at districts was Payton Lakey.  She tied for 7th in the high jump.
The 4×800 team (Kendra McCleary, Maddie Guill, Ashley Rieken and Christina Shortt) had their best time of the season with a 11:21. Shortt also ran the 3200 and had her best time of the season with a 13: 26.
The 4×200 team (Hannah Johnson,  Callie Eubanks, Amanda Greene and Payton Lakey, with Tailer Stofer as alternate) also had their best time of the season with a 1:56.
District track was held at St. Francis Borgia High School in Washington, Mo., a 3½ hour drive from Ava.
The state sectional meet will be at Marshfield this Saturday.  The 4×800 boys will run at noon in the first event of the day.
