Arkansas Couple Arrested Here For Drug Violations

Cody Bowers

Emily Kasiner

On April 6, Cpl. Brad Loveless and Deputy Nathan Long of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, arrested Cody B. Bowers and Emily A. Kasinger, both 18 and both of Mtn. Home, Ark., for several drug violations.
The arrests came after Cpl. Loveless made a traffic stop on the vehicle for going the wrong way around the Ava square. Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Long observed the passenger Bowers reaching under the passenger seat attempting to hide something. The officers indicated they also smelled marijuana while interviewing the duo.
Subsequently, deputies seized marijuana, prescription pills, marijuana pipes, and two separate containers that contained a large amount of MDMA, more commonly known as “Molly” or “Ecstasy.”
Both subjects were arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold and warrants were obtained.
Kasinger was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Her bond was set at $17,000 which was posted on April 7.
Bowers was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $19,000 which was also posted on April 7.
Sheriff Chris Degase said this was the largest quantity of Ecstasy seized in Douglas County that he is aware of. The sheriff commended the work of the deputies for utilizing their training and not just treating this as a “routine”traffic stop, which resulted in removing several grams of Ecstasy from the streets.
