Mt. Tabor Church

It was a good day to be in the house of the Lord and began with many prayer requests. We continue to have folks out with illnesses and other problems, pray for the bereaved, the military, our country and our church, as we search for the pastor God will send to us.

We were blessed to have Brother Max Stephens with us in both services. His message was titled, Why is the church so weak, speaking of us, as God’s people. He brought out many reasons the church is failing today and in the evening, he spoke about how we can begin to help the situation. He used many scriptures to get across his point. We were glad to have to have Kathy, John and Jo Stephens, Lisa Hensley and Seth and Jordan Tate in services.

We sang Happy Birthday for Jo and Max, who celebrate the same day, March 10.

Brother Scottie Eaves will be with us in both services this week, please come and join us.

We were happy to hear Jim Haden’s surgery Monday was successful and after approximately seven days in Mercy Hospital he will be recovering at home, our best to him.

Congratulations are in order for Miss MaKayla Elliott, who participated in the Nazarene Quiz Bowl in Carthage over the weekend and brought home several gold awards. She will get to move on to take part in Kansas City in the future, way to go MaKayla.

Mae Cox visited with her brothers and sisters by phone over the weekend. Thetis Pruiett is not doing well, Mae says. Mae’s visitors last week were Lisa Johnson, Donna and Tom Nichols. Golda Dixon attended the funeral for Tom Nichols’ mother in Mansfield, last week.

Those coming to see Bessie Hall last week were Carla Wilson, Lisa Johnson, J.C. and Vicky, Jewell, Bonita Winingham, Hellen Blakey, Kay Hutchison, Kim Clements and Ashley Elliott.

Martin and Mary Ann Hathcock have both been under the weather. They are both some better at this writing. Jim Hathcock, Pat Smith and Kay Hutchison were their visitors.

Garrett Richards, son of Kevin and Hayley, celebrated his second birthday over the weekend. Grandma Jeanne and Aunt Pat attended along with several other family and friends.

Patrick and Jill O’Neal drove in from Ada, OK. to surprise Pat Lansdown for a belated birthday visit. Doug and Kristi Lansdown, Jadon and Kayley, Casey Guerin and two daughters, also joined the surprise gathering.

Paul Cox visited at different times last week with his mom, Myrl Cox.

Bonita Winingham came to Ava Friday to spend several days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Elliott. Other visitors with the Elliotts were James Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. Shaun Elliott, MaKayla and Logan and Ashley Elliott, home on break from SBU.

Harold and Kay Hutchison were in West Plains last Saturday evening to attend the John Anderson concert at the Civic Center, for Cystic Fibrosis. They also visited Harlin and Shirley Hutchison and family and Amy came home with her grandparents to spend her spring break.

Harold and Kay Hutchison appreciated being on the receiving end when Jerry Pool and Don Bishop stopped Sunday evening and divided their “catch” with them.
