February came in with rain showers on Friday. Many areas, especially in Kansas west, were really dry, and needed the moisture. Jonquils and other early bulbs are up, showing some early blooms, lots peeping through the leaves. Though a bit early, forsythia and japonica shrubs are budding already.

Belated 70th anniversary wishes to Sid and Delores Williamson, of Willow Springs, on February 1st and many more! I miss getting to attend the meetings and our fellowship as in past years.

Edith McKinnon accompanied her friend, Betty Lemon, to Salem, MO. where she visited a cousin and her husband last Wednesday, February 1st.

Sympathy is expressed to Alice Hurley in the loss of her husband who passed away at home. No service was held.

Also sympathy to Ermadean Miller and the children of Elmer Miller, who passed away. Lilly Ridge Church served Saturday dinner for the family and services were held there at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Happy birthday to Katrina (Berry) Davis, of Tecumseh, this Tuesday, February 7.

Friends and schoolmates of Veryl (Pare) Atkinson of Excelsior Springs, MO. were sad to learn of her passing January 25th. She lived to the age of 92 years. She and husband, Ray, lived in Mountain Home when he passed away several years ago.

We were sorry to learn of Kathy (Robbins) Jackson, daughter of Bob and Peggy Robbins, being injured in a head on collision near her home at Paragould, Arkansas. News was that she had a broken arm, leg and hip. Our prayers are with her.

Matthew and Michelle Moody named their new baby girl Zoe Ann.

Mearl and Beulah Satterfield and I were in West Plains Sunday afternoon and met Lawrence and Dot Strickland while having lunch at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Dot said their son had been visiting them recently.

Keith Davis drove his grandparents, Dave and Karen K. Davis, to St. Louis last week, where Dave had a procedure to have a stint put in one artery blockage, at the Veterans hospital. They were there two nights.

Gainesville Eastern Star Chapter 432 will honor the Masons Monday evening February 13th. Dinner will be served at 6:30 and the meeting at 7:30 p.m.

The Lilly Ridge Church business meeting was held after church services Sunday evening. Plans for adding a kitchen adjoining our dining room were discussed for the future.

George and Mary Boze’s daughter in California is ill, and prayers are sent her way.

Sue Nelson of Isabella has a birthday coming up Thursday, February 9 and Jackie Davis celebrates February 10th, both members of Lilly Ridge Extension Club. Happy Birthday to both.

Our regular club meeting is Thursday the 16th. There has been some discussion of changing our meeting days to the third Tuesday of each month because of conflicting events our members have. It will be decided the 16th if enough members attend to vote.

The Senior Center has volunteers to help senior citizens with their tax services on Tuesdays. At least on the 14th, I believe it is.

Haven’t we all heard that older folks don’t need the “health” foods a younger person eats, because we need all the preservatives we can get.
