Jeremiah 17:9 “The hurt is deceitful about all things and desperately wicked; and who can know it”
We had a good Sunday school class with Bro. Fleetwood teaching from the book of Jude. It just has the one chapter, but powerful teaching in that one book.
We celebrated one anniversary Sunday. Bro. and Sis. Glen and Wanda Ray celebrated their 47th anniversary. We sang to them and we wish the couple many more happy years together. We sang happy birthday to Bro. Ross Martin who was 77 years old on the 26th. We appreciate him and Sis. Earnestine and his mandolin playing every Sunday. We enjoy all our music talent. We especially enjoy hearing our pastors bring us the word of God each Sunday and Sis. Loretta sings and plays the piano for us. We are blessed with three ladies who can play the piano.
We have enjoyed beautiful weather this winter. It’s not over yet, but hopefully February won’t be too bad. The wind has been pretty cold, but I’ve enjoyed the sun shining most of the winter. My sister, Verla in Virginia said they have had good weather also. The last I heard from my sister in California she said it had been terribly dry without much rain. She lives between Sacramento and San Francisco and it usually rains a lot in the winter and none in the summer.
We had several prayer request. One of our men, Bro. Valdeg needs prayer and was hospitalized. Bro. Ralph Calls’ brother in Iowa passed away over the weekend. He and Sis. Jane had been in Iowa to their nephew’s funeral, a couple of weeks ago and now has to back for this same nephew’s dad’s funeral. We wish them a safe trip there and back. Also continue to pray for Bro. Darrel Hesterlee’s sister and Bro. Bernie Hutchison needs prayer also.
Last week our friend Kathleen Sparks passed away. Our prayers are with her children and grandchildren. We appreciated her giving us quilting material also. Also our prayers are with the family of Brett Crewse who died over the weekend. Our prayers are with his mom, Jenny Johnson and Johnny and Wanda and Imogene and the rest of his family. He was only 23 and he and my grandson, Andrew, had been friends. It is especially sad when they are so young.
I send my appreciation to neighbors down the street, the Bocks, who have given us quilters material and also to Pauline Brooks who has also given quilting things again. May God bless you both. All of us together hopefully will be a blessing to those that receive them and we hope to have another quilter’s garage sale in a couple of months. The church helps by bringing things for us to sell. We have a good time doing it.
We want to invite the youth and those interested in our youth to come and hear the testimonies of the girls from Teen Challenge at our 5 p.m. service this Sunday, February 5. Our ladies are planning to fix lunch for them before service.
Have a good week.
