Falls are the leading cause of injury deaths in seniors. Seniors, is your time 13.5 seconds or longer? If so, you may be classified as a faller. Home health agencies across the state of Missouri utilize a TUG score (Time Up & Go) to determine your time. This is the amount of time it takes to stand up from a seated position, walk ten feet, turn, walk back to the chair, and sit down. If you are experiencing balance problems, mobility issues, low blood pressure, or sensory deficits, you may need assistance from your local home health agency to be safe at home, and to maintain your independence.

And speaking of chocolate, Prevention magazine reports that Dove dark chocolate is really good for you. Cocoa is rich in antioxidant flavanoids, called flavanols. People with high blood levels of flavanols, have lower risk of heart disease, lung cancer, prostate cancer, asthma and type 2 diabetes. One ounce of dark chocolate a day increases good cholesterol and prevents bad cholesterol from oxidizing. Try eating it with nuts and fruit for more good fats and even more antioxidants.
