Our first Sunday in the New Year. God blessed us with a beautiful day and a blessed congregation. We began with a good morning and Happy New Year to all from our superintendent Bro. Marshall. We sang a song for the Lord. We had prayer requests and there were many. Prayer was led by Sister Peggy. Bro. Marshall read scripture from Proverbs 19:16 and Luke 10:27.
Our Sunday school leader, Sister Naomi, began with prayer. Sister Naomi read Romans 8:1-17. We went through each verse and studied and had comments from the class. It is always good to have participation from the class. Good job, Sister Naomi.
We sang Happy Birthday to Sister Mary. Our little angel took up the Coins For Christ. It was then time to sing for the Lord. The choir was in good voice. The hymns were great with good messages. We gave our gifts to the Lord with a blessing by Sister Lee. It was special time again. Those doing specials were Sister Peggy, Bro. Marshall and Sister Sharon.
Bro. Paul gave a good morning to all and began the morning service with some comments about New Year’s Resolutions. He said he didn’t always make them, but if he did it would be to get “closer to God.” What a great thought. Also getting ready for the coming of the Lord, to hear him say, “Come my child and enter in.” he then read scripture from Matthew 2:1-12. God gave him a good message for us. We closed with a song and dismissed in prayer by Sister Juanita.
Our evening service began with the prayer circle. We had many prayer requests. Prayer was led by Bro. Marshall. We sang for the Lord. What a beautiful time in the Lord when we sing praises to his name. Sister Lee led us in prayer. Specials were done by Bro. Marshall, Sister Peggy and Sister Ulla.
Bro. Marvin Loftin joined us for the evening and when Bro. Paul asked if he had a message for us, Bro. Marvin said he did. He began by singing a beautiful hymn and then read scripture from Peter 5:6-7. It was a good message from the Lord. Bro. Marvin closed with prayer and we sang another good hymn. Bro. Marshall dismissed with prayer.
We hope that everyone had a great holiday with family and friends. I know I did. God really blessed me. We pray that all will have a blessed year in 2012. Have a great week, keep God in your heart and you will be blessed.
