Ava Senior Center

We will be closed on Monday, January 16, for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.  Our menu for the rest of the week is Tuesday, January 17—Biscuits and gravy, sausage, egg patty, tomato juice, fruit bar.  Wednesday, January 18—Chicken alfredo, broccoli, biscuit, cobbler.  Thursday, January 19—Chili, peanut butter sandwich, carrots, sherbet.  Friday, January 20—Polish sausage, sauerkraut, peas, mashed potatoes, cookie.

Our activities include but are not limited to:  OATS bus to Ava on Wednesday and Friday; County Health Department blood screenings and driver’s exam on Thursday.

The secret to feeling better and living longer is called staying active.  Regular exercise can prevent or delay diabetes and heart trouble.  It can also reduce arthritis pain, anxiety and depression.  It can help the elderly stay independent.  Walking, swimming or riding a bike improves the health of the heart and circulatory system.  Stretching exercises can reduce the chance of a fall.  Strengthening exercises will build muscle tissue and reduce muscle loss.

We appreciate the Herald for their Christmas gift.

Our book exchange is going really well.  People are bringing in books every day and others taking them to read.  Some are looking for more westerns and Louis L’Amour if you have some to share.

Until next week, have a good one!
